Nucleus LLC Providing a New Manufacturing Execution System to Carpenter Technology Corporation

Pittsburgh, PA – November 16, 2007 – Nucleus LLC is providing a Primary Melting Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to Carpenter Technology Corporation (NYSE: CRS) of Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. According to Brian Livermore, Nucleus LLC Partner and Project Technical Director, the MES will replace several legacy systems related to execution, control, and data acquisition with one integrated system across the primary melting activities at Carpenter Technology’s Reading, PA facility.

This new system will bring together the Level 2 control functions of the existing ARC and VIM melting shops as well as the new VIM furnace currently under construction. Through this new MES, Carpenter will have real-time process monitoring and data reporting capabilities throughout the primary melting process.

“Nucleus is very excited to work with Carpenter Technology to enhance their process control capabilities,” stated Sheldon Schake, Nucleus LLC’s Project Manager. “We believe Carpenter’s manufacturing operations will be improved through the use of the new MES integrated systems,” said Schake.
