Can-Eng Installs T-5 Basketless Heat-Treatment System
Can-Eng Furnaces International Limited of Niagara Falls, N.Y., has installed and commissioned a high-volume T-5 basketless heat-treatment system (BHTS) for an automobile manufacturer located in the southeastern United States. Can-Eng’s BHTS provides this engine manufacturer with a significant reduction in energy consumption and floor-space requirements over conventional roller hearth or batch heat-treatment systems.
Can-Eng’s BHTS incorporates a unique material-handling system that provides for single-piece product flow. This transfers components through the system without the use of baskets, carriers or trays.
Can-Eng Furnaces, Niagara Falls, NY has recently designed and turnkey commissioned a Continuous T-6 heat treatment system for the processing of safety critical cast aluminum automotive suspension components. This new design provides Solution Treat, Rapid Quench Transfer (RQT), Quench Media Control and Artificial Age requirements for these high volume automotive castings. The order follows development work conducted at Can-Eng's R & D facility in Niagara Falls. This improved system is specifically designed around the aluminum castings technical requirements as well as the customer’s limited floor space. The system integrates a unique forced convection heating system with integrated chambers to achieve the customer’s very stringent load uniformity requirements. RQT is provided via Can-Eng's unique design which eliminates moving parts from entering the quench media.
Products are conveyed through the system via roller conveyors, making it safe and reliable for the operator involved. The system is controlled via a user-friendly PLC based processor, communicating directly to an operator interface and is capable of monitoring process data remotely. The heat treat system integrates many standard Can-Eng features, specifically provided to service the emerging aluminum intensive automotive component market.
