Japanese Company Wins Order for Annealing Furnace
Chugai Ro Co. of Osaka, Japan, received an order from Shanghai Baosteel Group Corp. for what will be the largest annealing furnace in China for steel plate, capable of processing 57,600 tons a year. The order, worth an estimated $18-27 million, is for an annealing furnace that introduces hydrogen to prevent scale formation throughout the annealing process. Chugai Ro will make the components and ship them to China for local assembly. The furnace is scheduled to become operational in the autumn of 2009.
Chugai Ro aims to win orders for 10 more annealing furnaces by 2012. Baosteel will install the annealing furnace as part of a larger project to increase the scale of its steelworks for titanium alloys and other specialty steels.
About Chugai Ro Co.
Since its founding in 1945 Chugai Ro Co., Ltd. has been a technology-driven company, continuing to develop innovative technologies in the thermal field. Our core competence lies in development and design. However, it is difficult for a company to differentiate itself on the basis of technology alone in today’s mature engineering environment. Our response is to fuse engineering and production technology while concentrating functionality in the Sakai region. Putting development, design and manufacturing functions in one place improves interaction between departments and functions, allowing us to track our customer’s requirements more closely and produce better products. Our new infrastructure will include computerized, paper-less communications, making our organization more efficient. With today’s concern for the environment, energy-efficient thermal technology meets an urgent need both in industry and in the home. At Chugai Ro, we hope to realize the enormous potential of our field with new and innovative technology arising out of our new corporate structure.
