Specialty Heat Treating to expand its Elkhart facility
Sunday, 28 Feb 2010It is reported that Specialty Heat Treating, a company that specializes in enhancing the properties of processed steel, will expand its facility in Elkhart, a move that is estimated to create up to 26 jobs by 2012.
The new furnace will provide additional capacity to its vacuum heat treating services, a process which enhances the properties of steel in a protective atmosphere. Installation for the new furnace will begin in May with production beginning in August 2010.
Specialty Heat Treating's plans come more than a month after Norwegian electric car manufacturer and it will locate its North American production facility in Elkhart, creating more than 400 jobs by 2013.
Michigan based Specialty Heat Treating employs 12 at its Indiana operations. It plans to use up to USD 270,000 in performance based tax breaks from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation and other local incentives to add a new vacuum furnace to its existing 33,000 square foot facility.
