IH Economic Indicators: All Four Indices Remain Over 50

Industrial Heating’s monthly economic indicators for March 2008 showed growth in the thermal-processing industry. All four indices remained over 50 for the second straight month and 12th out of the past 13. The change in the number of request for quotes was the highest figure at 55.2. March 2008’s index numbers reflect the changes experienced by responding companies as they compare their February 2008 business levels to their January 2008 levels.

Change in number of request for quotes from January to February – 55.2
Change in number of orders from January to February – 50.3
Change in backlog from January to February – 51.6
Expected change in the health of the thermal-processing industry through March – 52.8

A number above 50.0 indicates increased activity or growth. A number below 50.0 indicates decreased activity or a decline in growth. Look for these numbers, along with historical values, on the Business Trends page of Industrial Heating.
