Can-Eng Installs Heat-Treatment System

Can-Eng Furnaces International Ltd. of Niagara Falls, N.Y., has installed and commissioned a high-volume T-6 basketless heat-treatment system (BHTS). This BHTS will process aluminum-intensive engine components for an automotive manufacturing company in the southeastern United States. The system was specifically designed for integration in an existing engine plant for the processing of cast aluminum cylinder heads. Once implemented, it will double the manufacturer’s casting capacity.

Can-Eng’s BHTS provides this engine manufacturer with a significant reduction in energy consumption and emissions while also reducing the floor-space requirements over conventional roller-hearth treatment systems. It also provides significant reduction in maintenance requirements through the reduction of drive components and reduced quenching apparatus when compared to conventional chain-conveyor systems.
