Eastham Forge to Build Heat-Treatment Plant - March 19, 2008

Eastham Forge Inc. of Beaumont, Texas, won approval from the Beaumont Planning and Zoning Commission to build a $5 million heat-treatment plant. The company plans to build a 42,000-square-foot plant that will heat treat an assortment of steel products in one of three natural-gas furnaces. The plant will also house three quench tanks. Eastham Forge says it will take about one year to build the facility.

Eastham Forge offers forged product ranging from 25-25,000 pounds. Equipment used by the company includes a 5,000-pound and 10,000-pound steam hammer and a 3,000-ton press. According to Eastham Forge, the company has had to send its products to Houston for heat treatment, which costs around $2.5 million annually.
