Nucor ranked as America?s largest steelmaker
No company produces more steel in the United States than Nucor Corp. (NYSE: NUE), according to rankings published in the May issue of American Metal Market.
The rankings by the magazine, its first in recent years, track which company produces the most steel on American soil. Nucor topped the list with more than 22 million tons. U.S. Steel was second with 16.8 million tons. ArcelorMittal USA Inc. was third.

Nucor, which has its headquarters in Charlotte, operates 53 facilities throughout the United States and one plant in Point Lisas, Trinidad. The company also has other operations through wholly-owned subsidiaries, Harris Steel and the David J. Joseph Co.

Nucor and affiliates are manufacturers of steel products, including carbon and alloy steel — in bars, beams, sheet and plate; steel joists and joist girders; steel deck; fabricated concrete reinforcing steel; cold finished steel; steel fasteners; metal building systems; light gauge steel framing; steel grating and expanded metal; and wire and wire mesh. Nucor, through DJJ, also brokers ferrous and nonferrous metals, pig iron and HBI/DRI; supplies ferro-alloys; and processes ferrous and nonferrous scrap. Nucor is North America’s largest recycler.
