Unifrax Announces Expansion

The Board of Directors of Unifrax I LLC has approved a $20 million expansion of its Tonawanda, N.Y., manufacturing facility. Work on the project will begin in early 2008, with an anticipated completion by the end of 2009. As a result of the expansion, Unifrax anticipates adding 50 new jobs over the next two years to the existing workforce of 180 at Tonawanda. According to Unifrax, the expansion will help provide increased production capacity to meet demand for its emissions-control devices on vehicles.

The Tonawanda site and several international Unifrax locations were considered for the expansion project. Performance record and existing production expertise and workforce contributed to the decision to expand the Tonawanda facility. Unifrax is headquartered in Niagara Falls, N.Y.
